Duane Dean Behavioral Health operates a criminal justice program for adults 18 years and older who have been mandated by the courts to undergo toxicology testing, assessments and treatment when necessary.
Also, Duane Dean Behavioral Health staff work with persons recently released from jail or prison who were incarcerated because of a substance abuse issue. Access to treatment can greatly improve the chances for a successful integration back into society for many ex-offenders. Treatment has been proven cost-effective and can help end the vicious cycle of drug abuse and criminal recidivism. In addition:
- Research shows that treatment can work for drug abusing offenders, even when entered involuntarily.
- Forced abstinence during incarceration is not equivalent to treatment.
- Failure to receive treatment or access to services often leads to relapse and re-arrest, usually during the first 12 months after release
- Treatment saves between $2 and $6 for every $1 spent on it
